September 13, 2001 -- A Message to Our Clients

Cincinnati -- Ohio National, along with its employees and financial representatives across the country, is deeply saddened by the horrific events that unfolded on September 11 in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania. Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone touched by this tragedy.

In light of these events, we want to provide you with some immediate assurance regarding our company's operations. We are also available to answer any and all of your questions.

Ohio National Financial Services is financially strong and healthy and has not been directly impacted by these tragic events. Our headquarters office is in Cincinnati, Ohio, and all of Ohio National's systems and facilities are fully functional. All assets, records and account information for our clients are intact and secure.

We do not anticipate any adverse impact from death or disability claims, and we are not aware of any investments that have been impacted or are at any significant risk because of the terrorist attacks. Additionally, as a financial services provider offering life insurance and annuity contracts, Ohio National does not carry property or casualty insurance and has no risk exporsure in that area.

Since September 11, our company has experienced some business processing delays due to the close of the stock exchange and the temporary shutdown of commercial air travel which has affected mail service. Because the stock market has been temporarily closed, the mutual fund and annuity industry is not processing transactions. We are entering all transactions as they are received so that we will be ready to process, without delay, once the markets reopen. In compliance with SEC rules, any transactions received while the market is closed will be processed as of the close of business on the first day the market reopens.

History teaches investors to avoid panic reactions in times of crisis and favors a tempered, steady reaction. Underlying fundamental values in investments remain in place, and we encourage our clients to remain focused in their goals and steadfast in their vision of attaining long-term results.

We are confident that our representatives and clients will join with all of our fellow Americans to help in our country's recovery from these terrible events, to be understanding, helpful and compassionate with those impacted, and to help our country and our citizens move ahead confidently.
