Ohio National Selected “25 Best Medium-Sized Companies to Work for in America”

Cincinnati -- Ohio National Financial Services has been selected as one of the “25 Best Medium-Sized Companies to Work for in America” by the Great Place to Work Institute (GPTWI).

The announcement of the “50 Best Small and Medium Companies to Work for in America” was made this morning before 12,000 human resource professionals at the Society for Human Resource Management’s annual conference in New Orleans. Ohio National ranked #15 on the list of 25 medium-sized companies.

“We are among a very elite group with this recognition, as this honor only comes to 25 small- and 25 medium-sized companies among the thousands and thousands of companies in our country,” said David B. O’Maley, Ohio National Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.

“This is a wonderful recognition, and we are thrilled. Our 750 associates have a vision, spirit and energy which we believe clearly define us and set us apart. This selection honors each of them,” O’Maley added.

This latest honor follows other national and local recognition for excellence received by Ohio National, including:

“100 Best Companies to Work for in America,” 1998 and 1999, as selected by the GPTWI and published in FORTUNE magazine. (The criteria was later changed to include only companies with more than 1,000 employees).

Winner of “Cincinnati's Best Places to Work” (large company division), as published in the Cincinnati Business Courier, November 2003

This year marks the launch of the new “small and medium list” ranked by GPTWI based on the results of a randomly distributed employee opinion survey. Each evaluated company was given a score based on employees’ responses to a detailed questionnaire (distributed last year) about the organization's workplace cultures and additional information regarding employee benefits.

GPTWI cofounder Robert Levering said in announcing the list, “The companies on this list set the standards for all workplaces. They show that companies can become successful by creating an environment where employees trust their management, have pride in their work and have positive relationships with their coworkers.”

“Being selected for this honor speaks to the priority we place on employee involvement and commitment,” O’Maley added. “Our high expectations for our associates are balanced by the company's delivery of programs and surroundings which benefit them, such as one of the finest, all-inclusive wellness programs available. There's no question that for a 90-year old company, Ohio National associates are remarkably agile in spirit, energy and focus.”
