Ohio National and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati dedicate two homes in live ceremony

August 18, 2021

Event recognizes local families’ journey to home ownership

Habitat for Humanity’s mission to strengthen communities through affordable housing continues to make a multigenerational impact on local families. Ohio National Financial Services is proud to partner with Habitat as they dedicate two new homes.

Since 2009, Ohio National has donated more than $1.8 million to Habitat for Humanity Greater Cincinnati to fund the construction of 26 homes. These are the final two homes built under the current partnership.

Ohio National’s Habitat for Humanity dedication will take place at the neighboring home sites on Saturday, August 21 at 10 a.m. The event will be livestreamed on Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati’s Facebook page at facebook.com/HabitatGC. The homes are located at 6316 and 6318 Witherby Avenue in the West College Hill neighborhood of Springfield Township.

“Ohio National is proud to partner with Habitat, especially in dedicating these new homes during the continuing uncertainty caused by the pandemic,” said Barbara Turner, Ohio National president and chief executive officer. “Families are focused on financial stability, and so are we. This partnership is one way we can fulfill our mission to make a difference in peoples’ lives by helping them achieve financial security and independence today — and for generations to come. We’re glad to have the opportunity to help families in our community take this step toward a more secure future.”

“Habitat remains dedicated to helping families make a positive change in their lives and we are grateful for this partnership with Ohio National. This partnership continues to break the generational cycle of poverty in Cincinnati by giving families the opportunity to buy a home for the first time,” said Ed Lee, president and chief executive officer of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati.

To qualify for their Habitat homes, families must meet a variety of criteria, including homeownership and financial education, and work 250-500 hours or more of sweat equity into the construction of their homes. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati will sell the home to the family with a 30-year, interest-free mortgage.
